Dairy Australia’s favourite interactive educational program is back, teaching Aussie students about the Australian dairy industry
For over 10 years the Picasso Cows program has taught primary school aged students about the Australian dairy industry, its products, health and nutrition benefits, farming practices and manufacturing processes - all while decorating a life-size fibreglass cow!
We recently visited Maroona Primary School, the winner of the 2019 Best Designed Picasso Cow, to find out more about the program. Check it out here:
The program runs twice per year, in Term 2 and in Term 3. Expressions of interest are currently being accepted for 2023. Limited places available.
This FREE* cross-curricular program is highly interactive, catering to a diverse range of learning styles. It encourages the development of ideas and creativity through cooperation and teamwork.
How does it work?
Participating schools receive a blank fibreglass cow (almost life size!!!), to be designed and decorated, while learning about the Australian dairy industry.
The program is supported by a suite of FREE curriculum linked resources for teachers, found here on the Discover Dairy website, across two key themes of Farm to Plate and Health & Nutrition.
Participating teachers receive access to the Picasso Cows member dashboard, which houses everything teachers need to successfully complete the program.
Schools will create a Picasso Cows learning journal, documenting and showcasing students' learning and engagement with their chosen theme.
And there is a chance to win some amazing prizes.
* Although the cow is valued at approx $1000, it is expected that schools will cover the delivery cost of $300.
Picasso Cows has been inspiring creativity and a love of learning about the Australian dairy industry since 2009 and has reached over 1,000 schools!
