This Friday the 20th November we are supporting National Farmers Federation in celebrating National Agriculture Day. It is a timely reminder that whether you are from the city or the country, all Australians are motivated to create a better future for our families and our environment. It is what drives our dairy farmers to produce high quality milk, for all Australians and the world.
To celebrate the day we are encouraging schools to educate students on what life is like on a dairy farm, how milk is produced to bring dairy products from the farm to their plates and explore the different careers within dairy.
Discover the resources below that you can use to help celebrate your day.
Discover Dairy Hub
The Discover Dairy hub has a range of free curriculum linked videos, worksheets, activity ideas, inquiry units and games to educate students from K-8 about the Australian Dairy industry, the Farm to plate and Health and Nutritional benefits of dairy consumption. Explore Discover Dairy resources.
Farmer Time
We have partnered with PIEFA to run a Farmer Time session so students can connect with a dairy farmer and ask questions about the day in a life on a dairy farm and about a career in dairy. Designed for students from K-12, Farmer Time provides real-world context to your food and fibre curriculum.
Farmer Time is run in Australia by the Primary Industries Education Foundation Australia with guidance and agreement with Linking Environment And Farming (LEAF).
If you are interested in joining a session with a dairy farmer please email us at schools@dairyaustralia.com.au with your school name, year level and questions for a dairy farmer.
