Responsible Production in the Dairy Industry will allow your students to learn about the dairy industry, milk production and the range of sustainable practices the industry and supply chain have embraced.
This project-based learning (PBL) unit has a series of activities that will inspire your students to use their thinking skills and establish an appreciation of the processes they can apply as they come across difficulties in unfamiliar information and new ideas. Using 6 phases: Define, Discover, Dream, Design, Deliver and Debrief. Students will learn through designing and producing a solution for consumers and the industry by creating an educational product; educating them about how the Australian dairy industry has embraced sustainable practices on the farm, in processing, packaging and delivery of dairy products to customers.
Teachers are provided with suggested learning experiences supporting study into:
- developing understandings about the Australian dairy industry, milk production and the range of sustainable practices the industry and supply chain have embraced
- defining the managed environments and systems that are used to look after cows and calves, produce, process and deliver milk, and manage the environment sustainability
- discovering ideas and solutions that can tackle the industry’s sustainability challenges
- discovering and envisioning creative solutions to deal with challenges.
